1:1 THERAPEUTIC Play for children and young adults

What is Play Therapy?

Play Therapy is a gentle yet powerful way to support children’s social, emotional, and mental health wellbeing. It uses the language they know best: play.

Children often find it hard to explain how they feel in words. Through play, they show us their inner world; what’s worrying them, what they’re working through, and what they need.

In Play Therapy, toys, creative materials, movement, and storytelling become tools a child can use to express themselves safely and naturally.

With the right support, children already hold what they need inside them to heal, grow, and thrive. My role is to offer a safe, steady space that empowers children, so this natural process can unfold, and create lasting, positive change.

Who is Play Therapy for?

Play Therapy can support a wide range of children, whatever their story. It may be especially helpful for children who are:

  • Feeling anxious, withdrawn, or low in mood

  • Struggling with anger, big emotions, or outbursts

  • Finding it hard to make or keep friendships

  • Coping with family breakdown, separation, or loss

  • Dealing with changes like moving home or school

  • Recovering from trauma, neglect, or early adversity

  • Living with illness—either their own or a family member’s

  • Showing signs of low self-esteem or confidence

  • Experiencing difficulties with attachment or trust

  • Neurodivergent (e.g. autism, ADHD) and needing a space that adapts to them

  • Selectively mute or non-verbal

  • Fostered, adopted, or in kinship care

  • Impacted by bullying or feeling different from peers

Play Therapy doesn’t require a diagnosis. It’s for any child who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or in need of emotional support, especially when words aren’t enough.
